Test Kits

Dow provides a free Acid Acceptance and Alkalinity Test Kit to guard against solvent breakdown. Since acid acceptance and alkalinity levels rise and fall independently of each other, the test kit helps you maintain acid acceptance and alkalinity separately. The easy-to-use kit enables you to check stabilizer concentration on the spot and keep the solvent from becoming acidic or alkaline.

Acid Acceptance Test

This test monitors the concentration of neutral acid acceptors in any of the following three solvents:

  • Dow Methylene Chloride Vapor Degreasing Grade
  • Perchloroethylene SVG
  • NEU-TRI™ solvent

If the neutral acid acceptors in your solvent are depleted, acidic by-products can build up and lead to solvent breakdown.

Reserve Alkalinity Test

In addition to neutral acid acceptor stabilizers, the following solvents have specialty alkaline stabilizers.

  • Perchloroethylene SVG Double Stabilized
  • NEU-TRI solvent

This test yields an accurate measure of the alkaline stabilizer level, even in the presence of alkaline metal working fluids and lubricants.

Test Kit Refills

Dow offers Acid Acceptance  Refill Kits separately. For your free Acid Acceptance Test Kit, or refill contact your Dow Chlorinated Solvent distributor.
